Cassano tempted by Atalanta

Antonio Cassano was left out of Sampdoria’s tactical drill, fuelling reports he’ll move on to Atalanta in January.

The 33-year-old forward surprisingly sat on the touchline when Samp ran a training session of XI v XI.

The club released a statement to assure it was purely a tactical issue and Cassano had not been penalised for disciplinary reasons.

Nonetheless, it signals that FantAntonio is on the margins of this Sampdoria squad under Coach Walter Zenga.

Nonetheless, it signals that FantAntonio is on the margins of this Sampdoria squad under Coach Walter Zenga.

He made seven Serie A appearances this season, but only started two games and for the rest was given brief cameos off the bench.

According to Sky Sport Italia, he is considering a January transfer to Atalanta in order to get more playing time.

Cassano had fought hard to return to Sampdoria, who he left in October 2010 following a blazing row with then-President Riccardo Garrone, a moment he has called the biggest regret of his life.

However, the Blucerchiati have moved on and he is struggling to find his place in the squad.
