The 35-year-old has been without a club since leaving Verona last summer, having changed his mind several times over whether to officially retire.

Speaking to Corriere della Sera, the former Italy international insisted that he will consider signing for a club where he feels ‘100 per cent’ faith from the President and Coach – but it will not be a move motivated by money.

“The things I did wrong I paid for [in my career], that’s how it should be,” Cassano began.

“I want to know whether I can still make it. It needs a President and a Coach who have 100 per cent belief in me. Otherwise, I will leave it be.

“However, if I do find it, I’ll be ready. I’ll sign for free, I have already earned enough money.”

Cassano categorically ruled out movng the the Far East, insisting anyone who goes to China does so purely for financial reasons.

“Going to China? Stupid. For me everyone is free to do what they want.

“But whoever goes to play in China should admit they are doing it for the money.

“I don’t even remember the name of the team who want to sign me.”

The former Inter, Roma and Milan man expressed his belief that he is still fit enough to play.

“I train every day, using the regime of my former Coach, Tibaudi. And I play tennis three times a week.

“I always lose, but I was born to play football.”
