Former Italy international Antonio Cassano said the ‘real problems’ being now, as the Azzurri advanced to the quarter-finals at the Euros.

After a 2-1 win over Austria in extra times, a clash with the winner between Belgium and Portugal awaits the Azzurri.

Former attacker Cassano, who scored 10 goals in 39 caps for Italy, participated in three European Championships between 2004 and 2012 and pointed out that the ‘real problems’ comes in the quarter-finals for Roberto Mancini’s men.

“Now the real problems for Italy begin,” Cassano told BoboTV. “Portugal or Belgium in the quarter-finals and then Spain or France in the semi-finals.

“The success against Austria reminded me of the 2006 game against Australia: the worst match of this national team. Now, we can only improve.”

Cassano praised CT Mancini for his tactical changes in the second half, as Federico Chiesa and Matteo Pessina came on to score one each at Wembley.

“Mancini did a masterpiece with the two changes, but I didn’t share the initial exclusion of [Manuel] Locatelli.”
