Antonio Cassano believes €85m for Romelu Lukaku is “simply madness” and Inter should give Mauro Icardi to Juventus for Gonzalo Higuain.
The former Roma, Milan, Inter and Sampdoria striker was as usual forthright with his views on a variety of subjects when speaking to Sky Sport Italia.
“Inter have got a top player on the bench. Antonio Conte can get them closer to Juventus and genuinely challenge for the Scudetto.

“It’ll be an exciting Serie A season with Maurizio Sarri against Conte. It’s disappointing that Max Allegri has gone, but when he does return, it’ll be for a big club.”
The Nerazzurri have been in negotiations for weeks with Manchester United for centre-forward Lukaku and Cassano doesn’t see the point.
“I personally don’t like Lukaku as a player, so for that asking price it’s simply madness. I’m talking as a fan here, but I’d give Icardi to Juventus for Higuain.
“If I were working at Inter, that’s what I would do, as Icardi is just a weight on their shoulders.”
Another of Cassano’s former clubs, Roma, are rebuilding with new Coach Paulo Fonseca.
“I am fond of Roma, but the biggest problem is (President James) Pallotta, along with (director Guido) Fienga and (consultant Franco) Baldini, because they stay abroad and never step forward.
“Baldini isn’t officially a Roma director, yet he makes the decisions without taking responsibility. He already had the idea in mind to send Francesco Totti away.
“With these people in charge, Roma will struggle. They must understand that Roma is represented by the fans.”
