Antonio Cassano will start training with Virtus Entella from Monday, but the club isn’t sure if it’s in Serie B or Serie C.
Entella announced the move via Twitter today and there will be “no contractual obligation” as of yet.
His first training session will be open to the public and crowds are expected to attend.
Cassano has been a free agent hovering between retirement and the continuation of his career since January 2017, when Sampdoria terminated his contract early.

Cassano has been a free agent hovering between retirement and the continuation of his career since January 2017, when Sampdoria terminated his contract early.
His last competitive match was played for Sampdoria in May 2016.
The 36-year-old joined Hellas Verona for pre-season training in 2017 only to abandon it two weeks later, insisting he couldn’t stand to be away from his family.
Entella are based in Liguria, near to his home in Genoa, so fit the bill, but they too live in uncertain times.
Virtus Entella are in the middle of a legal battle to regain access to Serie B after their relegation, claiming Cesena’s 15-point penalty for false accounting should’ve been applied from the 2017-18 campaign.
While the matter continues to be debated in the courts, their Serie C games have been postponed, having played only one 3-1 win away to Gozzano.
