Cassano: ‘Ibra the third best striker in history’

Antonio Cassano says Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the third best centre-forward in history and suggests Antonio Conte should change Christian Eriksen’s role.

The Italy striker has spoken with Christian Vieri live on Instagram about the current Serie A campaign.

"I like the Atalanta a lot but I have the vague impression that they are running out of gasoline," Cassano said.

“Still, if you ask me who can be the surprise for the championship I still say to keep an eye on them. "

Cassano did also release a controversial statement about his ex-Italy teammate Giorgio Chiellini.

"Giorgio, you know, he sends you to the hospital but then he apologizes. He is one of the best guys I have ever known in the world of football, but in the field does not recognize anyone.”

Cassano did also play for Milan and Inter during his playing career. He won a Scudetto with the Rossoneri alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“After Ronaldo the Phenomenon and [Marco] Van Basten, Ibra is the third strongest centre-forward in history, the most complete I have ever seen,” he said.

“As for Inter, they are playing with a 3-4-1-2 system. If he [Antonio Conte] goes back to 3-5-2 and fields [Christian] Eriksen as a playmaker, like [Andrea] Pirlo, he would change the team.

"He doesn’t see Eriksen, let’s face it. But if Conte gets this crazy idea, Eriksen in front of the defence, with [Nicolò] Barella and [Arturo] Vidal ahead of him, he could change the team. He must give him confidence, Eriksen is a great player.”
