Antonio Cassano hits out again at José Mourinho: ‘He is remembered in Madrid because he played horrible football, I know where he can put his trophies…’

There is a new chapter in the saga involving the Roma boss and the ex-Giallorossi striker who started by criticising the Special One’s playing style last week.

Mourinho replied after Roma’s 1-0 win over Torino this past weekend saying, among other things, that Cassano is only remembered in Madrid for the jacket he wore during his unveiling press conference.

“Mourinho is only remembered in Madrid because he played horrible football, that’s why he was sacked,” Cassano said on Tuesday, in the latest episode of Twitch show Bobo TV, as quoted by Gazzetta.

“I always left something in the heart of clubs where I played. I never criticised Mourinho as a man, I don’t know him personally, so I can’t judge him. I will continue to criticise him in footballing terms. I know where he can put his trophies…you know where!

“In Madrid, I also had two clocks, four rings and a shameful hairstyle. They called me ‘Gordito’ because I was fat, but I joined the Galacticos, meaning I was a phenomenon. Then I made disasters and it was all my fault.”

The former Azzurri striker spent one and a half years in Madrid but only scored four goals in 29 appearances before returning to Serie A, joining Sampdoria in the summer of 2007.

He also played for Bari, Roma, Milan, Inter and Parma in Serie A, scoring 112 goals in 400 appearances in Italy’s top flight.

Cassano insisted that he never fought with Marko Livaja at Inter, which Mourinho had suggested after Roma’s win against Torino.

“I swear, ask anyone, during my 18-year career, I never came to blows with anyone. I argued with everyone, presidents, footballers, and even warehouse workers. Once I threw a TV at a director, but there was never a physical clash.

“Mourinho may have won a cup in Rome but is doing obscene things. Arguments, red cards, players insulted, disasters. I don’t want to win anything. I’ve always played football to make the fans have fun, I don’t care about trophies. He has won by playing obscene football, he must understand that he is a poor coach.”
