Antonio Cassano thanked Virtus Entella for letting him train with them and will “make a decision” in a few days.

The 36-year-old hasn’t played a competitive game since May 2016 at Sampdoria, as he had a contract dispute with the club and then left Verona after just two weeks of pre-season training in 2017.

“I am super, super happy to be back training again,” Cassano told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I thank President Gozzi for the opportunity that he has given me. We’ll see how it goes day by day and then we’ll make a decision.”

Cassano has joined Virtus Entella for training with no contract, so it is so far just a trial run.

Above all, Entella can’t play at the moment because they are in a legal battle to decide if they’ll compete in Serie B or Serie C this season.

While the matter is going through the courts, Entella’s Serie C games have been postponed.

Cassano chose this club because it is close to his home in Genoa.
