Former Italy star Antonio Cassano has confirmed his intention to become a sporting director and would ‘absolutely’ work at Sampdoria again.
Cassano has managed to stick out his latest retirement for little over two weeks, and the 36-year-old revealed he would re-enrol on a course at Coverciano after dropping out in September.

“I’d like to stay in football, yes,” the ex-Roma and Real Madrid forward told Il Secolo XIX.
“I’d like to do so on the front line, in the technical area, scouting, as a sporting director.
“Two examples in Italy for me are Ausilio at Inter, who are a top club, and Rossi at Sassuolo, who are a cutting-edge club…
“I’ve never done it, so I don’t know if I’m good at it or not, but I’d like to help build a project, using the instincts of my football between 1999 and seven, eight years ago.
“I slept for 12 straight hours after I confirmed I’d stop playing. That hadn’t happened to me for a lifetime.
“Now I can enjoy my family, go running and play tennis with my friends. I can even have a second helping of dinner.
“My future? I’ll re-enrol on the next course at Coverciano, and this time I’ll participate.
“After that, it’s clear I’ll have to find someone who has faith in me. Would I work at Sampdoria again? Yes, absolutely.
“Ferrero is a very smart President and I like him. He knows how to conduct business.
“[Antonio] Romei reminds me a lot of Galliani in that he has football and managerial competence.”
