Former Italy international Antonio Cassano blames Nicolò Barella after his argument with Romelu Lukaku and believes Simone Inzaghi will leave Inter at the end of the season.

The Nerazzurri are 15 points below table leaders Napoli after a 0-0 draw against Sampdoria at Marassi on Monday.

The match will be mostly remembered for a clash between teammates Barella and Lukaku. The striker was unhappy with Barella’s attitude and did nothing to hide his frustration.

“Inter were superficial, they still deserved to win, but they have a big problem. When you have a coach like Conte, you put in the same commitment whether you face Empoli or Real Madrid,” Cassano, a former Inter striker, said during the Twitch show Bobo TV.

“Why did Conte win at Inter? Because he was so good at handling the group. If I were the coach, I would have replaced Barella during the break. He was annoying. He thinks he is Zidane or Iniesta, but he didn’t get a pass right and kept complaining.

“I am convinced Inter will change the coach in June. They need something more in these games. Inter have been disappointing and Inzaghi must evolve, even if they win the Coppa Italia it’s not enough. He wanted Lukaku and Correa, dropping Dybala and Sanchez and now he is paying the consequences.”

The Nerazzurri have qualified for the Champions League Round of 16 and the Coppa Italia semis but are currently 15 points below table leaders Napoli in Serie A.

Inter ultras also blamed Inzaghi with a statement published on Instagram saying that the ex-Lazio coach is unable to motivate his players.

The Serie A giants host Inter at San Siro this coming Saturday. Next week, they face Porto in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 in Milan.
