Former Italy striker Antonio Cassano believes that Milan made the best signing in Serie A this summer with their purchase of Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid.

Cassano spoke about Milan, their summer signings and first Serie A game on a twitch stream with Viva El Football.

He believes that signing the ‘phenomenal’ Morata was the best bit of business completed by any Serie A side this summer, suggesting that he brings ‘something different’ compared to the rest of the players in Paulo Fonseca’s squad.

It took the Spaniard less than half an hour to grab the first Serie A goal of his Rossoneri career, coming off the bench to score the first of his team’s two goals in an exciting 2-2 draw with Torino in San Siro on Saturday evening.

What Cassano said about Morata and Milan

“Milan, in my opinion, have made the best purchase in Serie A, the striker,” Cassano said, reported via Milannews.it.

“Morata is a player with a different quality, he’s fantastic. I am happy that he scored as well. He hasn’t trained with his new teammates much, but you can see from afar that he’s a different type of player to the others. He’s phenomenal.”

The Rossoneri paid a fee of €13m to activate the release clause in Morata’s previous contract with Atletico Madrid.

Unfortunately for Paulo Fonseca, and for Cassano, Morata has picked up a muscular injury and is expected to be ruled out of the next one or two league fixtures.
