Antonio Cassano claims Inter made a double mistake with Paulo Dybala, because ‘they gave away Alexis Sanchez, who is a better player’ than the new Roma signing.

Dybala left Juventus as a free agent when the club suddenly withdrew the contract extension proposal and allowed his deal to expire.

He seemed to be on the verge of a move to Inter when instead the Nerazzurri decided to pour their resources into Romelu Lukaku’s return on loan from Chelsea, so Dybala eventually joined Roma.

“If you are a great player at 29 years old, Juventus don’t just kick you out,” Cassano said on Christian Vieri’s Bobo TV Twitch channel.

“The top four or five sides didn’t even consider him as a reserve player. Inter parked him, then got Lukaku instead and told him to go home. With all due respect, he went to Roma for just €5m when he was asking for a €10m salary.

“I’ve been saying it since his time at Palermo, Dybala is not a great player. None of the top clubs wanted him, not even Arsenal or Manchester United.”

Cassano even has a surprising theory on why Inter held that big meeting with Dybala’s agent at their headquarters.

“It was all a show so they could really get Lukaku. The big mistake the Nerazzurri made was giving away Alexis Sanchez, who is a better player than Dybala.”

In fact, Inter had to give Alexis Sanchez a huge severance pay package in order to terminate his contract a year early by mutual consent.

It’s reported the club paid the Chile international circa €5m to walk away, after which he signed a new deal with Olympique Marseille.

  1. It was an incredibly stupid mistake, to PAY Sanchez to leave. It was also a colossal error to fail to sign Dybala. It rests entirely on Zhang’s tiny weak shoulders.
