Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal admits he would extend Carlo Ancelotti’s contract ‘tomorrow’ and warns the Merengues about Napoli: ‘They come here to win.’

The Partenopei visit Real Madrid at the Estadio Bernabeu in a Champions League group-stage game on Wednesday.

Carvajal previewed tomorrow’s European meeting at a pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

“We are talking about a top club, Napoli have just changed their coach, so we expect them to be super motivated. They will be determined, they come here to win,” he said, as quoted by TMW.

Several Real Madrid stars are injured, including Vinicius Junior, Aurelien Tchouameni and Luka Modric, but the Spanish defender sees it as an extra motivation for his team.

“It is not positive to have many injured players, but in these situations, those who are playing a bit less can step up,” he said.

“This is their moment and they must be ready. I am sure they will do well.”

Ancelotti is the leading candidate to become Brazil’s head coach from the summer of 2024 after the end of his contract with Real Madrid, but Carvajal hopes to continue working with the Italian tactician for a long time.

“He is one of the coaches who has surprised me the most in my career. Carlo never stops developing,” he said.

“To me, he can stay here for as long as he and the club want. Not many coaches can give what he’s giving to Real Madrid.

“Results determined the fate of coaches. I would extend his contract tomorrow. We all know what he can give to the team.”

Real Madrid are the Champions League Group C leaders with 12 points in four matches. Napoli sit second with seven, while Braga are third with four. The Portuguese side will meet Leonardo Bonucci’s Union Berlin on Wednesday. The Germans have only collected one point so far, drawing against Napoli at the Stadio Maradona.
