Carrera to take AEK Athens job

Massimo Carrera is reportedly the new AEK Athens coach, ready to sign a two-year contract, after his experience at Spartak Moscow.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the 55-year-old will be in Greece tomorrow to put pen to paper on the deal.

He’ll replace Nikolaos Kostenoglou, who took over in August, but managed one point from the last three games.

The former Juventus, Atalanta and Napoli defender started out as assistant manager to Antonio Conte at Juve, then followed the tactician to the Italy staff.

Carrera broke out by himself at Spartak Moscow in 2016, where he won the Russian Premier League title and the Russian Super Cup.

He was fired on October 22, 2018, not taking on other jobs in over a year.
