Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali says the Neroverdi are waiting for Domenico Berardi and believes Andrea Pinamonti can aim for an Italy call-up with Luciano Spalletti in charge of the Azzurri.

Sassuolo meet Napoli at the Stadio Maradona on Sunday night. They are still without Berardi who has been training separately from the team, hoping to join Juventus, but Sassuolo took him off the market on August 17.

“Our decision is clear. He is recovering and he is a serious professional. Berardi is a Sassuolo legend so he is a key player for us,” Carnevali told DAZN.

Pinamonti will start in attack against the Partenopei tonight and Carnevali was asked if the ex-Inter player can hope to get an Italy call up this season.

“Surely he was not up to the task last season, but he has started the new season in a different way so he can aim for the Azzurri shirt,” said the Neroverdi director.
