Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali confirms the best offer for Davide Frattesi is ‘from a Premier League club,’ but they hope sides like Milan, Juventus or Napoli will try to challenge it.
The midfielder had been on the verge of a transfer to his boyhood club Roma last summer, but the two sides failed to agree terms.
He is sure to be back at the centre of speculation this summer, having been linked with the likes of Milan, Juventus and Napoli.
“I have not spoken to him about which clubs could be interested. As of today, I am trying to understand what the best opportunity for Sassuolo is, and for the moment that is from a Premier League club,” Carnevali told Sky Sport Italia.
“It is premature to discuss it now, but we will all together try to figure out if there really will be an important proposal from one of these Italian clubs.”
This would be repeat of last season, when Sassuolo had offers from several Serie A sides for Italy international striker Gianluca Scamacca, but ended up selling him to West Ham United instead.
As for Frattesi, the 23-year-old was linked with Arsenal last year and could well be pursued by the Gunners again this time around.
He has four senior caps for Italy and is under contract with Sassuolo until June 2026, valued on the market at a minimum of €35m.
So far this season, Frattesi has contributed seven goals in 36 Serie A appearances for the Neroverdi.
I hope he looks at what has happened to scamacca. Unless the offer is from a really top club, he is best of staying in Serie A. It would be amazing if Milan can sign him.
