Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali insists they hope to keep their best players and give Milan trouble today, even though he admits to Domenico Berardi talks in the past.

Both Sassuolo-Milan and InterSampdoria kick off at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).

The Rossoneri need only a point to guarantee the Scudetto, as they have a superior head-to-head record with their city rivals and a two-point advantage going into the final round.

“I was asked what player I’d take from Milan and I chose Rafael Leao, he’s a champion and would do well in any team,” Carnevali told DAZN.

“As for us, we hope to keep hold of our best players, as we know it’s difficult to replace them and we only sell if there is a big opportunity.”

Berardi is among the players linked with a move away from Sassuolo, as Fiorentina, Inter and of course Milan are also candidates.

“We spoke to Milan and other clubs too about Berardi, but that was some time ago, it’s not the moment to discuss that now.”

Carnevali is friends with Inter director Beppe Marotta, so did they speak before this game?

“There’s no need for that. Everyone in this business is a professional, we all try to bring home the best possible result.”
