Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali spills the beans on the transfer market, confirming Juventus want Giacomo Raspadori, Domenico Berardi would be ‘perfect for Milan,’ Inter might have to wait for Gianluca Scamacca and Napoli are targeting Hamed Traore.

The Neroverdi and their starlets are going to light up the summer headlines with proposals from within Serie A, but also the Premier League, LaLiga and Ligue 1.

Carnevali spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport and was asked outright if Raspadori was close to Juve.

“I don’t want to sell anyone and fortunately Sassuolo have the economic strength to keep all our gems, but our patron Squinzi set some clear guidelines that we always respected. We invest on youth, maintaining a balance between sporting and economic results.

“Juve did ask us for Raspadori at the end of the 2021 summer transfer window, but there was no time to complete the negotiations, so they picked up Moise Kean instead.

“I have not spoken directly with Juve since then, but I do hear rumours of their interest. If they step forward, we will not be unprepared.

“In fact, I await Juve with open arms, as I have a very good rapport with the club and their directors. However, if they want Raspadori, they’re going to have to spend quite a bit of money.”

Raspadori is seen by the Bianconeri as an ideal replacement for Paulo Dybala, who has not been offered a new contract and will leave as a free agent.

“Giacomo is the ideal player for Juve. His best role is right behind a centre-forward, but Jack can play in other positions too. He is two-footed and very good in tight spaces. We didn’t loan him because we wanted him to mature with us.”

Carnevali confirmed the minimum figure for all their young stars is €30m and then they take it on a case by case basis from there.

“Sassuolo have a clear strategy, we only release a player when we are convinced that we’ve got a replacement up to his standard.

“For example, Maxime Lopez has offers from Serie A and abroad, but he will only be sold once I have in my hands a player who can replace him.”

Domenico Berardi was on the verge of leaving last summer, but Fiorentina did not meet the asking price.

“I think Berardi would be perfect for Milan and if I were at a top Italian club, the first player on my wish-list would be Berardi.”

The Rossoneri are also involved in the hunt for Scamacca, although Inter would seem to be the favourites here.

“Inter manifested their interest in Scamacca, but watch out for the proposals from abroad, as Gianluca has a lot of offers, including from the Premier League.

“Having said that, he needs time to mature and perhaps ought to stay with us for another year.”

Carnevali did confirm that Hamed Junior Traore is heading for the exit this summer.

“He has flourished now. Napoli and the Premier League like Traore, he has a lot of quality.”

  1. PhD Max said he does not want to push youth and like Kulu and Coman, young Raspadori will be ruined with the indoctrination of the slow ball.

  2. @lord Kulu is so overrated…. he’s very one-dimensional(dribbling) and Coman didn’t fit into the 4-3-1-2 Max used earlier in his career w Juve. I prefer Joao Felix to Raspadori tbh and for the love of God, we need to replace Kean and Arthur !

  3. @Alex,

Joao Felix is overrated as he never does anything in big games and he chose the wrong club as Diego is very much like PhD Max as he never takes risks, plus he is not Italian. Raspadori should be looking to Milan as Pioli gives youngsters a chance. Kulu is having a blinder at Spurs and he has found a better coach, playing in a more competitive league and the game is faster. Also with regards to Coman, it is up to PhD Max to integrate players and the xmas tree is outdated. Coman is playing for a bigger team and always turns up in big games esp in CL. He has nothing to prove in terms of those stats. PhD is the one that is overrated and has always hidden behind those 5 league wins which anyone could have achieved.
