Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali hints Roberto De Zerbi will walk away this summer for Shakhtar Donetsk, but they won’t necessarily sell Manuel Locatelli.

The Neroverdi visit Parma at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT), follow all the action as it happens on the Liveblog.

“We have to focus on seventh place, as there is still a possibility. We are concentrated on today, we can think about tomorrow at another time,” the director told Sky Sport Italia.

It’s widely reported De Zerbi has already decided to leave the Neroverdi and join Shakhtar Donetsk.

“We hope he will remain with us, because nothing has been definitively decided. I will certainly cheer him on wherever he goes, whether it’s at an Italian club or abroad. We have a strong bond and trust he’ll have a great future as a coach.

“As we said, we want to end the season well, but then we wish him all the best.”

Finding a replacement is another matter, with options mentioned including Vincenzo Italiano and Vincenzo Montella.

“There are many coaches of great quality. There is this remarkable merry-go-round of coaches at the moment, there could be a lot of changes in the big and medium-level clubs, so a great deal of uncertainty right now.

“What I can tell you is that we have not contacted any other coach.”

Manuel Locatelli is a Sassuolo player who has attracted a great deal of interest too, both from Italian clubs and abroad.

“There were already offers for the lad last summer, but they did not suit our demands at all. He stayed with us and it’s entirely possible he will remain with us again this season.

“If he were to leave, we’d like him to remain in Serie A, because our league needs top quality home-grown players who can make their mark here. I don’t know if the conditions will exist for Italian clubs to purchase Locatelli, but if he doesn’t, we’ll be more than happy to keep him.”
