Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali explains Eusebio Di Francesco and Domenico Berardi both chose to stay.

The Neroverdi qualified for the Europa League last season, and Coach Di Francesco was linked with the Milan job, and Berardi rejected Juventus.

“It wasn’t hard to agree with Di Francesco,” Carnevali said on Radio Crc.

“He had some important opportunities, high-level clubs were interested in him but we have a great relationship with our Coach and his way of thinking is similar to ours.

“He had some important opportunities, high-level clubs were interested in him but we have a great relationship with our Coach and his way of thinking is similar to ours.

“We laid out our objectives and extended his contract for another three years, and he chose Sassuolo.

“Berardi? He had big offers, but it all started from the player’s choice. Berardi wanted to stay at Sassuolo, and we wanted him to stay. Both of us were happy to continue and it was the best thing for everyone.

“He’ll continue to grow and we have the chance to continue our journey together, but again, the choice to stay was mainly his.”
