Atalanta refuse to decide between their two goalkeepers, but Marco Carnesecchi’s performances for the Under-21 Italy side could put him in front of them both.

Coach Gian Piero Gasperini has rotated Marco Sportiello and Pierluigi Gollini, with both having difficulties and weaknesses.

There have already been multiple reports that Gollini will be put up for sale, with Inter, Roma and Milan interested in his services.

However, Atalanta could well have the answer on their books already, as Carnesecchi is a product of their youth academy.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Serie B side Cremonese, having been at Trapani last term.

His performances for Italy at the European Under-21 Championship have certainly caught the eye, especially a spectacular double save in stoppages for last night’s 0-0 draw with Spain.

It’s likely Carnesecchi will return to Bergamo in the summer and he could well be given the gloves.
