Former Porto midfielder Carlos Alberto seemed confident that Roma coach Jose Mourinho would take on the Brazil job.

The 59-year-old Giallorossi coach was heavily linked with the Portuguese national team after the World Cup in Qatar and was reportedly offered the chance to coach both teams simultaneously. Mourinho made his commitment to Roma clear, believing in the project in the Italian capital, but rumours are still circulating regarding his possible candidacy for the vacant Brazil role.

Speaking on the Mundo GV podcast, Carlos Alberto revealed who he believes the next Brazil coach will be.

“I’ll say it directly. Maybe Mourinho will be the new coach of the Brazilian national team. This is news. He even offered me to be his assistant.”

The 59-year-old Mourinho is contracted to Roma until June 2024 and is still backed by the club’s owners the Friedkin family. Last season, he guided the Giallorossi to their first ever European title in the Europa Conference League and now is fighting for a top four finish this season.

His presence on the Roma bench helped convince players like Paulo Dybala and Georginio Wijnaldum of a move to the Italian capital.
