Gerry Cardinale reportedly told Milan players their winning attitude is the same as LeBron James’ and the New York Yankees and explained to them his vision for the club’s future.

Cardinale was at San Siro to watch the Rossoneri’s 3-2 win over Inter on Saturday night and met Milan players yesterday as the team prepared for their Champions League debut this season (VIDEO).

La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Corriere della Serareport what Cardinale told Stefano Pioli and his lads during yesterday’s meeting.

“What a winning attitude, you are like LeBron James, the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys and the stadium was a show inside the show.

“Our vision for Milan is clear,” he continued.

“We’ll support our talented players, coaches and staff members to succeed on the pitch and allow our fans to share their experience with this historic club. We’ll make the most of our sports and media network to analyse data. Our track record in the development of stadium and hospitality has one target: maintain Milan at the top of Italian and European football.”

According to Gazzetta, Paolo Scaroni will remain in charge as the Rossoneri president, while Cardinale will name three new board members in a shareholder meeting that will take place on September 14.

One of his first targets is to bring forward the work to build a new stadium. Over the next month, Milan and Inter will decide whether to continue with the project in the area of San Siro (called ‘The Cathedral’) or start from scratch, to build their new home in Sesto San Giovanni, just outside Milano.

  1. The Dallas Cowboys…? That team hasn’t won a championship since 1995. The Pittsburgh Steelers or the New England Patriots would have been a better example. And LeBron has almost singlehandedly ruined the Lakers. I think selfish attitude would describe him better.
