New Milan owner Gerry Cardinale will reportedly meet Stefano Pioli and his players today and is waiting for updates on the stadium front.

Cardinale’s RedBird Capital Partners confirmed the acquisition of the Serie A champions earlier this week. The American entrepreneur was at San Siro yesterday to watch the Rossoneri’s 3-2 win over Inter in the derby della Madonnina, sitting close to Paul and Gordon Singer.

According to Calciomercato.com, Cardinale will be at Milanello today to meet Pioli and his players. He will reportedly explain his plans for the future at the club, with the target of remaining competitive in Italy and making more step forwards in Europe, keeping an eye on financial sustainability.

Cardinale is also waiting for updates regarding the plan for a new stadium. The public debate concerning ‘The Cathedral’, which should be built in the area of San Siro from 2027, will begin on September 19.

It will last circa a month involving experts and citizens. At the end of it, Inter and Milan will decide whether to carry the project forward or start from scratch knowing that there’s a chance to build the stadium in Sesto San Giovanni, a few kilometres outside Milan, starting construction works in 2023.
