RedBird Capital’s Gerry Cardinale is expected to arrive in Milan in the coming hours to continue talks over plans for a new stadium in the city.

The Milan executive had already planned to be in Europe on other business, but will also conduct further meetings in an attempt to speed up a deal for a new Milan stadium.

According to Milannews, the construction of a new ground is viewed as a crucial element in increasing the club’s revenues in the coming seasons.

Cardinale has no meetings scheduled with technical director Paolo Maldini and has no intentions of discussing any matters on the playing side of the club.

Maldini and director of football Frederic Massara already have a busy period ahead, particularly with upcoming discussions over the renewal of Rafael Leao’s contract.

Cardinale does, however, have several meetings booked in in various locations across the city and its surrounding areas to assess potential locations for the next chapter in Milan’s rich history.

The first planned visit will be to La Maura, but there are still several other sites that the Milan board will consider before reaching an agreement.
