Inter have shaken hands with Olympique Marseille for Valentin Carboni, who is expected to fly out for his medical on Monday, completing a loan with option to buy move for up to €40m.
According to Footmercato, the flight has now been booked and the Argentina international is set to land in France tomorrow at around 15.00 local time.
Fabrizio Romano outlined the details of the complicated transfer, which is a remarkably smart move from Nerazzurri President Beppe Marotta.
Marseille are paying €1m for the one-season loan and have an option to buy next summer for a further €35-36m plus up to €4m in add-ons.
That would take the total payment to around €40m.
Inter retain Carboni buy-back option
At the same time, Inter also have a buy-back clause set at €40m and need to sign him to a new contract to June 2029 before he completes the transfer.
It means that if Carboni does impress at Olympique Marseille, they can buy him back without any added bonuses.
Usually, the buy-back clause is set at higher than the sale price.
He only turned 19 in March and already has three senior caps for Argentina, where he was part of the squad that won the Copa America this summer.
Inter purchased him from the Catania youth academy in 2020 for just €300,000 and he spent last season on loan at Monza, where he scored two goals and provided four assists in 32 appearances.
