The Lega Serie A caused controversy when announcing that from the 2018-19 season, only one standardised armband with ‘Capitano’ on it would be used.
However, De Rossi wore one with the Italian flag across it for the victory over Torino, while Gomez had Atalanta colours on his armband in their 4-0 thrashing of Frosinone last night.
Neither have been fined or given any disciplinary warnings.
This is leading to speculation the new rule could be scrapped, as it is proving to be very unpopular with players and fans alike.
