Fabio Capello felt that Milan’s 4-0 victory over Venezia in Serie A on Saturday night was ‘too easy’ and has issued a warning that the bar will now be raised ahead of headline fixtures against Liverpool and Inter over the next seven days.

The Rossoneri recorded their first victory of the season on Saturday evening, scoring four times within the opening 29 minutes to put their rocky start to the campaign behind them. Theo Hernandez, Youssouf Fofana, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham provided the goals.

Capello, writing in his Gazzetta dello Sport column, was pleased by Milan’s performance overall, citing their movement, determination and spirit, but also thought that Venezia made the game far too easy for Paulo Fonseca’s side.

The former Roma, Juventus, Real Madrid and England coach singled out Fofana, Abraham and Rafael Leao for individual praise.

However, Capello was slightly concerned by the way Milan conceded in the second half. Francesco Zampano’s goal midway through the second half was eventually chalked off for a foul in the build-up, which led to Hans Nicolussi Caviglia’s dismissal.

Capello also warns that ‘the bar is raised’ for the Rossoneri ahead of a big week of fixtures against Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday night, and against Inter in the Derby della Madonnina in Serie A next Sunday.

‘They’ll have to be very careful,” he warned.
