“It’s going to be a very important and very difficult game,” said Capello in the match programme.
“The fact it’s only in Week 2 is in favour of Roma, as it’s much better for them to play early than further down the line.
“Juventus need to rediscover themselves after losing three important players and ensure their absence is not felt. This is why the sooner they meet, the better for Roma, who are one of the favourites in the Scudetto race.
“The Giallorossi need to make that step up in quality, in terms of mentality, because they have everything it takes to win the Scudetto.
“They are a more balanced side now and brought in top quality players in the positions that were lacking. This Roma has it all.”
Juventus have also been active on the market, bringing in Mario Mandzukic, Paulo Dybala, Simone Zaza and even Juan Cuadrado on loan from Chelsea.
“If it’s the Cuadrado of Fiorentina, then Max Allegri has an excellent player at his disposal. If is the one we saw at Chelsea, then it won’t be easy for him to make an impact,” noted Capello.
“Allegri proved at Milan he was a good Coach and confirmed it in Turin. He can bring the best out of his players and relax the group.
“Rudi Garcia won in his third year at Lille. This is his third year at Roma.”
Capello has won the Serie A title at both Juventus and Roma, so what are the differences?
“Winning at Roma is tougher because of the mentality. After we won the Scudetto, the celebrations went on for six months. That isn’t the case in Turin, Milan and Madrid. The next after you look ahead to the next objective and put the trophy on the mantelpiece.”
Capello terminated his contract with the Russian Federation by mutual consent, so what is he up to now?
“I watch TV and relax. Do I miss the adrenaline of games? Of course, like a smoker misses cigarettes after giving up. Luckily at least I don’t smoke.”
