Former coach Fabio Capello believes that Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic has better technical skills than Romelu Lukaku, who ‘did not consider’ the gap between Serie A and Premier League before returning to Chelsea.

The Belgian forward is not living his best life at Stamford Bridge having scored just ten goals in 28 appearances with the Blues this term. He was left on the bench for the whole Champions League game against Lille yesterday after managing just seven touches in their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Fabio Capello commented on Tuchel’s decision during Sky Sport Italia’s Champions League Show last night.

Capello explains why Lukaku excelled under Conte at Inter, flops at Chelsea

“Lukaku fit perfectly into Conte’s counter-attacking style at Inter, because there were lots of spaces, he had this physical strength and pace that allowed him to flatten the defenders in Serie A,” he said.

“However, Chelsea play this very different type of football with lots of short passes and Lukaku doesn’t have the same spaces to move in. He also finds that in England the defenders have a similar physicality to him and hold out more.

“Lukaku had this power and space to run at defenders and turn the game around. He didn’t consider the gap between Serie A and Premier League when he returned to Chelsea.”

Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic, on the other hand, had a dream Champions League debut, scoring after barely 30 seconds in the Old Lady’s clash against Villarreal.

“Vlahovic has everything to be a great forward. He doesn’t have Lukaku’s physical strength, but technically, he is much better than him.”

Vlahovic now has two goals in five appearances with the Old Lady.
