Fabio Capello reveals he suggested Massimiliano Allegri snub a return to Juventus: ‘I knew he would become a scapegoat.’

The Old Lady has already lost four games this season. Juventus suffered back-to-back defeats against Sassuolo and Hellas Verona and are 16 behind table leaders Napoli and Milan.

The team has been sent into training retreat until the November break. They face Zenit and Fiorentina at the Allianz Stadium this week.

Allegri returned to Juventus in the summer, two years after his sacking, but things are surely not going as he would expect.

Former Juventus coach Fabio Capello revealed he had suggested Allegri snub a return to the Allianz Stadium.

“I told him that he would have become the scapegoat for all problems,” Capello told Radio Anch’io, as quoted by Calciomercato.com.

“I told him not to return. Juventus have a winning DNA, but right now, you can’t see it.

“Players are not doing what they should. Everybody thinks it’s the coach’s fault, but it’s not like this, it’s not easy to turn the situation around.”

Capello spent two years in Turin as a coach, winning the Serie A titles twice.

However, the Scudettos won under his tenure were revoked after the Calciopoli scandal that saw Juventus relegated to Serie B.

  1. It is quite easy to comment from a warm TV studio – you always get it right no matter what!

  2. “Players are not doing what they should”

Very true. Just look at how most goals were conceded. Rookie mistakes and carelessness.
Then the lack of drive and purpose in attack.

Allegri does have some strange choices though.

He is also back to his old habit of tinkering with the lineup endlessly. I remember a few years ago when he played over a dozen matches in a row, all with a different lineup.

Scapegoat or not, all we can do now is wait

  3. Hey this is purely Allegri and before him Pirlos fault and has absolutely nothing to do with my ability to sign players. Just ask Nedved he’ll back me up 100%.

  4. I can’t stand anytime this guy talks. Capello, who won those to scudetti, didn’t fight for them and backed up his ball to go to Madrid. What I remember too, is he relegated Del Piero to a supersub role, when it was the captain who provided that magic bicycle kick pass to Trez to beat Milan and bring home that 05 title.

  5. He has far more respect then goat herder Massimiliano. He managed the great Milan, won the CL in style and had the cojones to manage abroad and win la liga. Any man who took on the dreadful England job and managing bulldog hooligan, pie eating Rooney has my greatest respects. That was his one mistake taking the Pengland job. Goat herding Allegri only has him self to blame. He was scared of the grandeur of Real and Utd and knew the fans would bay for blood with sleep football.
