Fabio Capello feels Carlo Ancelotti is like ‘a professor’ so he’s the ideal coach for Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid, but notes that he won La Liga at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2007 after selling Ronaldo ‘The Brazilian.’
Mbappé has reportedly informed PSG that he will leave at the end of his contract in June and Real Madrid are ready to welcome the French superstar on a free transfer in 2024-25.
“It’s an excellent choice from Real Madrid and Mbappé. Kylian will join a top team,” Capello told Gazzetta.
The ex-Milan and Juventus boss feels that the number of big players at the Bernabeu won’t be a problem for Ancelotti who has already coached many superstars in the past.
When asked how a manager must handle a dressing room full of champions, Capello replied: “With his personality. The players immediately judge the coach. They immediately understand whether you have the qualities to lead a group. A coach is like a conductor.
“Carlo is even more, he’s a professor,” continued Capello.
“He has intelligence and charisma and knows how to do it. More importantly, he knows how to line up the team in the best way and he makes them feel important.”
Capello also coached Real Madrid, winning La Liga twice, first in 1996-97 and then in 2006-07.
“I coached half of Galacticos because Zidane wasn’t there, but Real are not making many errors with transfers right now. They have an exceptional desire to win and incredible quality,” said the ex-coach.
“We had the best player who, however, affected the group. Ronaldo, the Brazilian, not Cristiano. In fact, when we decided to sell him in the middle of the season, there was a change and we won La Liga.”
Ronaldo left Capello’s Real Madrid in the 2007 January transfer window, joining Serie A giants Milan where he scored seven goals in 14 appearances in the second part of the campaign. He left the Rossoneri after scoring two goals in six matches in 2007-08, ending his career at Corinthians.
