Udinese have opened talks with World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro as they look fore replacements for Gabriele Cioffi.
On Saturday evening, reports emerged suggesting that the Friulian outfit were debating sacking their coach following the 1-0 loss to fellow relegation candidates Hellas Verona, a result that leaves them 17th in the table, at risk of slipping into the bottom three.
Cioffi took over at Udinese back in October following the dismissal of Andrea Sottil and he’s failed to improve results in the Friulian capital, making just four wins and 10 draws across his 23 matches in charge, averaging 0.96 points per match. As such, Udinese have turned to Cannavaro.
Cannavaro a candidate
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Udinese have contacted Cannavaro to explore a possible move for the former defender, who is still out of work following his departure from Benevento in February of last year.
The 2006 World Cup winner has been linked to numerous jobs over the last 12 months, including the South Korea national team, Napoli, Bari and Adana Demirspor.
