Napoli captain Paolo Cannavaro prepares to face Bayer Leverkusen today and invites Federico Balzaretti to join them.

“We take it one game at a time. Right now we are working towards the Italian Super Cup against Juventus, as that is our first objective of the season,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“The Scudetto? I admire the way Juve went about it, as they only started talking about the title in the final weeks. It is better to speak with actions rather than words.”

Napoli are at the San Paolo this evening in a prestigious friendly with Germans Bayer Leverkusen.

“The city is eager to see the new team in action and so we want to win this too. It won’t be a friendly, but a proper game.”

The Partenopei have sold Ezequiel Lavezzi and brought in Lorenzo Insigne, though there are reports they want to take Balzaretti from Palermo.

“Insigne can certainly become a top player, as he has all the quality needed, so it’s up to him now to make his mark in Serie A,” continued Cannavaro.

“As for Balzaretti, this is a soap opera of the summer. He knows that he’d be very welcome if he came to Napoli. It’s always better to have players like him on your side.”
