Fabio Cannavaro confirms his dream jobs are Napoli or Italy, but he had ‘spoken to Everton, Watford, Fiorentina and Poland.’

The 2006 Ballon d’Or and World Cup winner had managerial experiences around the world with Al-Ahli, Guangzhou Evergrande, Al-Nassr, Quanjian Tianjin and as interim manager of the China national team.

“Football in China might seem to be a level below, but I was in charge of Guangzhou Evergrande, who won nine league titles and two Asian Champions League trophies in the last 10 years,” Cannavaro told Sky Sport Italia.

“I must not make the wrong choice when it comes to my first European club. In recent years I have spoken to Everton, Watford, Fiorentina and the Poland national team, but my dream would be to coach in Italy.”

Considering his background and time there as a player, Napoli would be the ideal, although they currently are challenging for the Scudetto under Luciano Spalletti.

“I’ve said since the start of the season that Napoli are a good team with a great coach. Napoli would be a dream for me, I’ve been a fan since I was a kid. I know that I need to work hard first and gain more experience. We’ll see in future.”

Napoli is not always so hospitable for homegrown players, as seen by captain Lorenzo Insigne’s imminent departure as a free agent for Toronto FC.

“Insigne gave the club so much, but the club didn’t give him any real renewal offers, so he had to think about his future.”

There are also reports that Roberto Mancini is of interest to Manchester United and he could leave the Italy bench if the Nazionale fail to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

“I am really worried by the play-offs, particularly Portugal, because missing two World Cups in a row would really be a catastrophe.

“I hope Mancini will stay for many years, but if there was the possibility of coming back to be part of what was always my home, I wouldn’t say no.”
