Italy legend Fabio Cannavaro claims Napoli would be happy to welcome Cristiano Ronaldo and believes a deal with Manchester United is still possible as CR7 wants to play Champions League football.

The Portuguese superstar is desperate to leave Manchester United, who will play in Europa League this season. He has been linked with Napoli with Victor Osimhen moving in the opposite direction for more than €100m.

However, Antony’s imminent move to Old Trafford means the Red Devils are unlikely to invest as much in the Nigeria striker.

“Ronaldo is eager to play in the Champions League and Napoli as a city and a club would be more than happy to welcome a player like him,” the 2006 Italy World Cup winner said during an event in Biella last night, as quoted by Il Corriere dello Sport.

“We are talking about high figures, Osimhen is the future, but it’s hard not to consider a potential €100m sale.

“The World Cup is just around the corner and Ronaldo knows he has to prepare in the best way for this competition. However, he is still a Manchester United player getting a considerable salary at his current club.”

Ronaldo scored 101 goals in 134 appearances during his three-year spell with Juventus.

Italian media believe the Portuguese superstar could still join Napoli on loan without including Osimhen in the deal, but Ronaldo’s close friend Edu Aguirre said earlier this week that the ex-Juventus forward wouldn’t join the Partenopei.

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United from Juventus for €15m last season and scored 24 goals in 38 appearances with the Red Devils in 2021-22, including six in seven Champions League matches.

  1. Dream, this is obvious ploy to create division and distraction in the great city of Naples, ADL, the fans and the people of Naples don’t want CR7, stay away

  2. Screw all the above posters. I want him here, guarantees us a scudetto and Champions League double
