Fabio Cannavaro admitted he has rejected offers from MLS, as the World Cup winner prefers ‘to wait for a chance in Europe’.

The 48-year-old stepped down from the position as head coach of Guangzhou Evergrande in September and has been linked with a return to European football.

Cannavaro, who won the Ballon d’Or after lifting the World Cup with Italy in 2006, has been linked with a move to America and confirmed he has been offered jobs in MLS.

“I had some offers from America but I had to reject them,” Cannavaro told Il Corriere dello Sport. “I prefer to wait for a chance in Europe.

“I’m not in a hurry, I’m not impatient, but I have a lot of desire and I risk getting tired by lazing around.”

The former centre-back, capped 136 times by the Azzurri, picked up league and cup titles in Italy and Spain before retiring as a player.
