Italy legend Fabio Cannavaro has reportedly held talks with Everton over a possible managerial role at Goodison Park.
The former defender is looking for his first coaching job in Europe.
The 2006 Italy World Cup winner rescinded his contract with Guangzhou FC in September and has been linked with other jobs outside the old continent but he now wants to test himself in Europe.
According to the Daily Mail, the 48-year-old spoke to Everton directors this week. The Toffees are still looking for a replacement for Rafa Benitez, who was sacked last week.
Roma boss José Mourinho rejected the chance to move to Goodison Park, while Cannavaro turned down an offer from the Poland FA ahead of the World Cup play-offs in March.
Cannavaro said in December that he would have followed training sessions at Manchester City and Tottenham.
“I’ve already spoken to Tuchel and Guardiola and I’d like to watch Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli at Castel Volturno,” the 48-year-old told Il Corriere dello Sport.
“I want to return coaching, I’ve received offers from Asia, but I want to test myself in Europe. I spent a month in London, my daughter lives there.”
A former Napoli, Parma, Inter and Juventus defender, Cannavaro played 421 games in Serie A during his career as a footballer.
