Former Italy defender Fabio Cannavaro has been given a 10 month jail sentence for entering a property seized by tax authorities.

The Guangzhou Evergrande Coach has appealed the ruling, meaning that the sentence is suspended pending an investigation.

Cannavaro was investigated for tax evasion last year, and was ordered by authorities not to enter his the house in question, reports The Guardian.

Prosecutor Luigi Canavale stated that the World Cup winner, his brother Paolo, who plays for Sassuolo, and the former’s wife Daniela Arenoso entered the villa, and sentenced all three to custodial sentences.
