Fabio Cannavaro shared his view on the current Serie A campaign, saying he expected Juventus‘ drop after Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit.

Juventus sit fifth in the Serie A table, four points behind Atalanta. They’ve had a slow start to the season, collecting just one point in the opening three league games.

They’ve won ten of their 19 Serie A matches this season and have the worst attacking record in the last decade, with just 27 goals scored.

“I was not surprised by their drop, I think it was inevitable,” the 48-year-old told Il Corriere dello Sport newspaper.

“Don’t forget that they lost the coach-saviour, Cristiano Ronaldo. With him, they started every game 1-0 up.

“Juventus must deal with the decline of a few players and with a few struggling youths.

“On the other hand, I didn’t expect Milan‘s drop. At least, not now.”

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United in the summer after scoring 101 goals in 134 appearances over three seasons at Juventus.

The situation is very different at Inter. The Nerazzurri have been crowned Winter Champions and have lost just one game from 19.

They are enjoying a four-point lead over city rivals Milan.

“They are a complete team and I am happy for Simone Inzaghi because many thought he couldn’t coach a big club,” Cannavaro said.

“On the contrary, he has all the characteristics to do well, he knows how to deal with players. Compared to last season, they have more freedom and you can see that on the pitch.”

Cannavaro also spoke about his coaching career, saying he was forced to snub Fiorentina twice.

He added that he would be studying some top European clubs during their training sessions, hoping to get his first coaching job in the Old Continent.
