Napoli legend Fabio Cannavaro pins the blame squarely on Amir Rrahmani for the Barcelona goal in tonight’s Champions League draw. ‘When you do that, you kill your goalkeeper.’

The Ballon d’Or winner and Neapolitan hero was one of the pitch-side pundits at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona for Amazon Prime Video Italia.

He gave his verdict on the 1-1 stalemate, where Victor Osimhen snatched a precious draw, but was above all highly critical of the defending on the Robert Lewandowski opener.

“If a defender lets the ball go through his legs, the way Rrahmani did first and Di Lorenzo later, you are effectively killing your goalkeeper,” said Cannavaro.

“The number one rule for a defender is never allow that ball to go through your legs. Your primary job is to stop the ball coming through.

“Then Lewandowski does very well, but ultimately that was the only place he could score from.”

The second leg will be in Barcelona on March 12, but not at Camp Nou as it is undergoing restructuring work, so will be played at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
