Fabio Cannavaro touched on his coaching ambitions and gave some advice to Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic, suggesting how the striker can ‘become more dangerous’.

The 23-year-old Serbian forward started the season well in Turin, scoring four goals in his first four games, but he failed to find the back of the net in his last two games. He was absent for the draw with Atalanta due to back troubles.

Juventus had hoped that Vlahovic would be their leading man following their €80m investment back in January 2022, but the 23-year-old has only managed 27 goals across 69 games, leading to criticism for both himself and coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Speaking to Tuttosport via TMW, Cannavaro first discussing his coaching ambitions.

“I was used to playing in big clubs like Juventus, like Real Madrid, in Napoli. Used to winning with the national team. It is clear that as a coach one day you hope to coach these great teams.”

He gave suggestions for ways Vlahovic can improve with Juventus.

“I only ever see him with his back to goal. And when you receive the ball always with your back to the man behind, you can also be good, but you always struggle.

“He should understand that sometimes if he sits deep instead of always going against the defender, he would become more dangerous.

“He should exploit the side lanes more, exploit his movements because then once in the penalty area he scares everyone!”

Cannavaro was asked if Allegri could make some changes to improve the Serbian striker’s goal tally.

“Sometimes it’s the players who get stubborn in certain movements. But I would ask him to do other things more…”

Vlahovic was heavily linked with a move from Juventus in the summer, with Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea both interested in a deal, but he ultimately remained in Turin.
