Salvatori also gave updates on the other injured players, confirming that Mauricio has opted against surgery on a broken nose.

“Mauricio has confirmed his desire not to undergo surgery for his broken nose. This decision doesn’t raise any new problems, it’s just a question of aesthetics.

“On Sunday we’ll fit him for a mask. In terms of training, we wouldn’t expect him to do any athletic work for four or five days after the injury, as it may cause him difficulty in breathing.

“He’ll resume normally after the international break.

“As for [Miroslav] Klose, we’ll use the break to get him back in top condition, he needs time to get completely back to the best physical level.

“[Stefan] De Vrij is stepping up his individual regime, the goal is to have him back after the international  break.”
