Napoli defender Hugo Campagnaro has thanked “everyone for their affection” after leaving hospital.
The Argentina international was in a horrific car accident on Thursday that led to the deaths of three people, including his best friend, who was a passenger.
Campagnaro was saved by his seatbelt and airbag, emerging with only heavy bruises and shock, so he was released from the Rio Cuarto hospital last night.

“I thank everyone for their affection during this time, from President Aurelio De Laurentiis to the club, the Coach, my teammates and fans,” he said.
“Everyone has been splendid and their comfort really helped me.”
