Napoli defender Hugo Campagnaro has revealed that he may soon be considered for selection by Argentina.

“I have spoken with an assistant to Argentina boss Alejandro Sabella,” the centre-back told ESPN Radio Rivadavia.

“I haven’t been promised anything, but he did tell me that I would be considered. It all just depends on me now.

“However, right now, I’m not thinking about the national side.

“I need and want to just continue doing well with Napoli so that they will at least continue to monitor me.”

Campagnaro joined Napoli in the summer of 2009 after spells in Italy with Piacenza and Sampdoria.

The 31-year-old is uncapped and there have been suggestions that he could be picked by Italy first as he holds an Italian passport.
