Cambiaso: ‘Well worth the yellow card for that celebration!’

Andrea Cambiaso jokes the yellow card for his wild celebrations after a stoppage-time Juventus winner over Verona was ‘well worth it!’

This really did not seem to be Juve’s night when Moise Kean saw two goals disallowed by the finest of margins by VAR, for offside and then for a foul on Marco Davide Faraoni, then Arek Milik’s looping header came off the inside of the far post.

However, substitute Cambiaso was ready to meet the rebound after Pawel Dawidowicz failed to clear in the six-yard box.

“This is a very important goal, I am so happy. This means a lot, we are top of the table and will enjoy it for a few hours at least,” Cambiaso told Sky Sport Italia.

He whipped off his jersey in the wild celebrations and was inevitably booked.

“It was also my happiest yellow card, it was well worth it!”

It was his first goal in the Juve jersey and he could not have asked for a more dramatic situation to score it.

“We created so many chances, there was some bad luck with those VAR incidents, but we deserved the victory. It gives us more consistency in our results and lets us hope for the future.”
