Juventus and Italy wing-back Andrea Cambiaso was on media duty on Tuesday at a commercial event in Milan, where he stopped to discuss the feeling of pressure at Juventus, his start to life with the Italy national team and a minor slip-up about coach Massimiliano Allegri, which has caused a bit of discussion online.

The 24-year-old stopped by the Adidas Originals store in Milan on Tuesday as part of the exhibition laid on by designers Swedish Girls. Kenan Yildiz, Timothy Weah and Samuel Iling-Junior were also in attendance on behalf of Juventus.

Despite the event in Milan, most of the questions that Cambiaso faced related to Juve’s business on the pitch and the end of the 2023-24 season.

Pressure at Juventus and Champions League objective

“We’re happy at the moment, let’s move forward. On Friday, we have an important match to continue in the race to reach our goal, which is the Champions League,” he told reporters, via Calciomercato.com

Juventus drew 0-0 in the Derby della Mole against Torino on Saturday, which means they have now won just one of their last six Serie A fixtures, which came against Fiorentina the weekend before.

“We have pressure everyday. As long as we wear the Juventus shirt, that will always be the case,” he said when asked if there are any feelings of mounting pressure in the Juve camp.

“The objective has always been the Champions League, the Scudetto was a dream. Now, we are back and focussed on our main objective, and we have to achieve it whatever the cost. And as soon as possible, too.

When asked what Juventus have been missing so far in 2023-24, Cambiaso replied: “That’s the million dollar question. I don’t know. We probably didn’t know how to manage the tough moments well due to a lack of experience. But now all we can do is look ahead.

“I’m very happy, I think I still have a lot of room for improvement, so I have to continue working as I have done.

“Objectively, we haven’t scored enough. We have to improve, we know how and where to do it, and we will try to do so in the next match.”

Cambiaso’s Italy national team call-up

Cambiaso has also recently made his debut for the Italy national team, starting in the 2-1 win over Venezuela, before earning his second cap off the bench against Ecuador a few days later.

“Making my national debut made me really proud, but I haven’t changed. Getting into the squad for the Euros is a personal goal of mine, it would be a great achievement, but everything depends on how I play for Juventus.”

Allegri slip-up

The Genoan-born wing-back also faced questions on the recent criticism of Juventus coach Allegri. The grammar in Cambiaso’s answer caused a bit of excitement online, although there is nothing more to suggest other than a slight slip of the tongue.

“He put his trust in me from day one, so I have to thank him a lot for that. It’s an honour to have been … er, to be coached by him,” he said.
