Napoli coach Francesco Calzona reveals why Victor Osimhen is only fit for the bench against Inter and choosing his replacement.
The match with Napoli kicks off at San Siro at 19.45 GMT.
Osimhen skipped training for a couple of days this week, then only had partial work with his teammates, so was not even expected to make the trip to Milan, but he is on the bench.
“Osimhen has an inflammation of the scar from an old injury,” Calzona told DAZN.
“He is on the bench and we’ll see, if necessary, if we are able to use him today.”
Giovanni Simeone was an option to replace the centre-forward, but Calzona has picked Giacomo Raspadori instead.
“Raspadori can play in many different roles, he is also suited to being a centre-forward, but I also have Osimhen and Simeone to consider usually.”
Napoli crashed out of the Champions League to Barcelona midweek, so all their focus now has to be on at least qualifying for the Europa League, as the top five seem a long way off.
“We are playing catch-up, so it is our duty to get the best out of every match. Today is fundamental for us to at least try to achieve an objective that is far away, but still possible.”
The Partenopei are in seventh place, already six points off Roma in fifth and nine adrift of Bologna.
