Napoli and Slovakia coach Francesco Calzona has opted to include five Serie A players in his 32-man provisional national team squad ahead of EURO 2024 this summer.

Calzona is in an interesting position as he is still technically head coach of Napoli, but he did not stop working in his role as Slovakia head coach at the time of his Partenopei appointment in February. He is out of contract at the Stadio Maradona at the end of June, and it is reported that Antonio Conte is set to be his successor.

Calzona is still expected to lead Slovakia into the Euros this summer.

Which Serie A players have made the cut for Slovakia?

Five Serie A players have made his national team squad, including one he will know particularly well from his time with Napoli.

That is because Stanislav Lobotka is included among the midfielders. He is effectively a guaranteed starter for Slovakia, so it is expected that he will still be included when the 32-man squad gets cut down to 26.

There are also inclusions for Salernitana and Cagliari defenders Norbert Gyomber and Adam Obert.

Hellas Verona have two inclusions in the squad, namely midfielder Ondrej Duda and forward Tomas Suslov.
