The two clubs have agreed terms for the striker, but over the last few weeks the move has been cast into doubt.

“We have set a precise deadline to resolve this situation,” Guillermo Calleri told reporters in Argentina.

“It must all be decided by Sunday. If not, Calleri will continue to play for Boca, which after all is what he always hoped for. His desire was always to remain at the Bombonera.”

According to La Nacion, Inter got cold feet after reports authorities are investigating potential irregularities in Calleri’s ownership.

Boca have reportedly already sold Calleri to investment fund Stellar Group via club side Deportivo Maldonado.

This confusion and rules limiting third party ownership mean Inter are less enthusiastic about pushing for the €11m transfer.

Inter also couldn’t register another non-EU player right now, so Calleri would have to be signed via Bologna with a six-month loan at the Stadio Dall’Ara.
